Why our students love learning with BYOL
“Just recently started delving into app/web development had my first project a month ago, experienced every single aspect of what is being mentioned in these videos.”
“Is like having a coffee with Dan and asking him about all his tips and experience!”
“Good to hear people talking frankly and honestly about these things.”
“Loads of great inside information. Dan talks about Money, Clients and the Brief. In short, Dan gives us his personal knowledge and incite into the workings of a web designer. If you are studying with Dan then this short course is a little gold mine of information. It really is a must see!!!”
“Thanks for answering many of the questions we are scared to ask, covered it very nicely.”
“Awesome.. thanks for the tips. I started watching your tutorials a long time ago and now I have a diploma of website developement. I have returned back to get some more tips before I start doing paid work. Wish me luck... :P”
“I was interesting in hearing Dan's points on this topic. I am not new to freelancing, have been doing that since 2017 in and out as language professional and the basic concepts/key points/takeaways seem to be a constant. It's also great how somebody like Dan, whom I deem extremely successful has had to go through all of this himself and ends up (at least at shooting time) with a very usual rate f...”
“Genius haha. Nice ideas and good advice. Thank you :)”

Daniel Scott
Founder of Bring Your Own Laptop & Chief Instructor
I discovered the world of design as an art student when I stumbled upon a lab full of green & blue iMac G3’s. My initial curiosity around using the computer to create ‘art’ developed into a full-blown passion, eventually leading me to become a digital designer and founder of Bring Your Own Laptop.
Sharing and teaching are a huge part of who I am. As a certified Adobe instructor, I've had the honor of winning multiple Adobe teaching awards at their annual MAX conference. I see Bring Your Own Laptop as the supportive community I wished for when I was first starting out and intimidated by design. Through teaching, I hope to bring others along for the ride and empower my students to bring their stories, labors of love, and art into the world.
True to my Kiwi roots, I've lived in many places, and currently, I reside in Ireland with my wife and kids.
