BYOL Forum FAQs

The BYOL Forum is our community space where you can ask questions, join conversations, and reply to others. You’ll also see all the questions and answers from our courses gathered here, so everything’s easy to find in one place. We built the forum so our community has a space to grow together. Jump in, help out fellow students, and share what you know - it makes learning better for everyone. And don’t worry, our BYOL Experts are always around if you need us.
Spaces are the different boards in our forum. Each one is dedicated to a specific tool or topic - so if you’ve got a Photoshop question, you’ll find it (and ask it!) in the Photoshop Space. We’ve also got a General Discussion board for all those wider design conversations that don’t fit into just one tool.
The forum is publicly viewable - anyone can read the posts, even without a BYOL account. This helps showcase our community spirit and makes it easy for future students to see what we're about.
Posting and participating is members only. You'll need an active subscription to post questions, reply to threads, or join discussions. Anyone is welcome to browse and read - but you'll need an active subscription to take part.
The forum is lightly moderated to keep things safe and on track, but it's primarily a peer-to-peer space. That means you'll mostly be learning from and supporting each other—fellow students helping fellow students!
If your question is technical or needs input from an instructor or expert, use the "Ask the Experts" tile on your Student Dashboard. That's the best way to reach the BYOL team directly.
You're welcome to share ideas, but for technical issues or feedback about the platform, please use our contact form. That way it gets to the right team quickly.
You can ask questions, share tips, celebrate wins, show your work, or start discussions related to creativity, design, learning, freelancing, or anything you think others would find helpful or inspiring. Just keep it kind and on-topic.
Yes! You're welcome to share your portfolio or social links when asking for feedback, showing your progress, or sparking discussion. Just please don't use the forum to promote services, find clients, or grow your follower count - this space is for learning, not advertising.
You can share personal or creative work for feedback, discussion, or inspiration, but advertising, sales pitches, and self-promotion for business purposes aren't allowed. If your post is mostly about gaining followers or attracting clients, it's likely to be removed.
Use a clear title, keep your post focused, and tag it with relevant topics to help others find it later. If you're asking for help, give as much context as you can - it makes it easier for others to offer useful answers.
Click 'Report' (found in the options in each post) so that our moderators can take a look. If something feels unsafe or inappropriate, we want to know.
Direct messaging isn't a feature of the forum at this time. All discussions happen in public threads so everyone can learn and take part.
